Although of course the main purpose of Essex Blades Dance Club is to provide fun classes in a
variety of dance styles and to develop its members as dancers, we also pride ourselves on having
an active social life! The Social Secretary of the club this year is Katie and it is her job to
organise social events for us all!
As is to be expected with university sports clubs we do hold regular drinking socials. The
usual format of these nights is to start the evening in either Level 2 or a flat in The Towers
where we will play some drinking games, after this we normally go to the SU Bar before returning
to Level 2 for Sports Fed. All of our drinking socials will be on a Wednesday evening because
members of the sports federation get reduced price entry to Sports Fed nights, only £2.50 if you
buy your ticket early! It’s the one night a week you can be guaranteed to see all the sports
clubs out, dressed up in fancy dress, celebrating their achievements!
If drinking and dressing up isn’t your thing don’t worry, we have something for you as well!
This year Katie has been thinking of lots of ideas for non-drinking socials so we have a bit of
variety! There are lots of places to go around Colchester including Colchester Zoo and
Rollerworld but also we plan to organise a trip to London’s West End to see a professional
dance production!
Details of all social events will be posted on the Essex Blades Dance Club Facebook group, the
club’s website, sent out via the university email to all members and also will be announced in
classes so there’s no excuse not to come out and enjoy yourself with your club!
