Samba

Samba is a rhythm that originated in Africa and was brought to Brazil by the slaves as music and dance. There are several variations of samba but the one that I will teach at Essex Blades Dance Club is samba no pe (samba in the foot). This is the very first steps of samba, but I also plan to teach other variations such as Pagode and Salvador’s carnival steps!
The classes are suitable for everbody as we develop the class on a rolling basis. The basic samba step is usually taught every week so don’t worry about being a beginner! It doesn’t matter if you don’t pick it up straight away because the most important thing is to have fun! Regular samba dancers will also get the chance to perform in the local carnivals, which are great fun! I hope to see lots of new faces at the FREE ‘come and try’ session on Thursday 9th October! Tip: As a suggestion, girls may want to wear shoes with a bit of a heel and guys should wear any shoes without rubber soles. Trainers are best avoided as they tend to stick to the floor!
