Contemporary

Dani was President of the Club last year and is so excited to now be teaching her own class. Contemporary dance is not a specific technique but a collection of methods from other dance forms, mainly ballet and modern dance. Contemporary was born as a sort of rebellion against the rule of ballet and as a result it embraces floor work and dancers often perform barefoot. Dani will be exploring all these techniques and styles in her class so there will be something for everyone!! A particularly fun part of contemporary is contact improvisation. This technique can seem challenging and feel really weird at first but once you get the hang of it it’s really fun to explore it, both alone and as part of a group! We’d love to see lots of fresher’s in this class as it is a popular class with existing members so it would be great to see some new faces as well, whether you’ve had any training in contemporary or not! The ‘come and try’ session for contemporary is on Saturday 11th October at 12pm in the Activities Studio in the Sports Centre.
